The First Nations Housing (FNH) Community is a holistic housing resource organization using a First Nations-Led Approach to educate and empower First Nation Communities with their housing initiatives. From building to tenancy to maintenance, the First Nations Housing Community is there to help every step of the way!
As a product of the First Nations Housing Conference, this organization helps to bridge the gaps between industry, government and First Nations. The FNH Community understands that everyone from housing managers to community members have a stake and a responsibility to provide solutions to housing in First Nation communities. It is an association where all involved can share information, request assistance and collaborate with other individuals who all share a common goal: to provide safe, affordable and fair housing solutions.
The First Nations Housing Community will be built on ideas brought forth by you and your community members. In the inaugural year of this association we will actively communicate with our members (First Nation communities) across the country. This will help to identify the challenges faced by First Nations communities and lead to the development of a community support system designed by First Nations, for First Nations. By participating in the 1st year of the FNH Community you will become a Housing Community Creator and help drive positive change in First Nation’s housing throughout Canada.
The goal of the First Nations Housing Community is to have First Nations working together to empower and educate one another. Our community engagement tools at FNH Community will include:
1
Training & Development
2
Community Advocacy
3
Expert Advice
4
Information Sharing
5
Member Support
6
Research & Communications
FNH Community will work with our Community Creators (members) to establish what form the FNH Community will take and identify a clear mandate for the association. By developing our mandate in tandem with First Nations from across the country we will ensure that our services are tailored to your specific needs and that we can continue to evolve the First Nations Housing Community.
